A newly disclosed flaw in the Linux kernel's TCP stack, tracked as CVE-2026-98432, carries a maximum-severity 9.8 CVSS score and hits Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and other major distributions. Anthropic disclosed on October 27 that one of its AI models had independently written a working exploit for the bug, which can let an unauthenticated remote attacker gain root access on vulnerable Linux servers. The finding underscores both the severity of the kernel issue and how AI tools are increasingly capable of producing real-world exploit code.
